This one is a first. RIPE began as a painting by artist Jennifer Steidl, who saw the PLANTING TOMATOES riff and made something back — an artist riffing on a riff. Her work is an allegory of desire versus nature: a lush garden interrupted, a split tomato that blurs the line between freshness and violence, beauty and unease all at once.
